Complications in Implant Dentistry (CI180)
| 13 CE Credits Prerequisites: NoneEvery dentist who places or restores implants will eventually deal with a stripped screw, a fractured abutment, a loose crown that won't come off, or an implant that needs to come out. Having a systematic protocol for those moments before they happen is very different from trying to problem-solve them chairside without one.
This workshop is built around the hands-on management of real implant complications — the specific scenarios practitioners encounter when a case doesn't go as planned. The curriculum covers common implant complications, approaching a loose implant crown, stripped screw removal, abutment retrieval, broken implant removal, and how to identify an unknown implant brand and type from a radiograph and clinical exam.
Relevant for any dentist involved in implant placement or restoration, including those managing implants placed by another provider.
Participants Will Learn:
-
The various complications that can occur during the surgical placement of dental implants.
-
How to triage, diagnose, and treat the most common prosthetic complications that occur in everyday practice.
-
The principles to help minimize implant complications and failure in future patients.
