Integrating Dental Sleep Medicine for Patient Care & Practice Growth (CB150)
| 13 CE Credits
Obstructive sleep apnea is one of the most underdiagnosed conditions in dentistry, and general dentists, who see patients regularly and build long-term relationships, are well-positioned to identify it. Most don't, not because they aren't interested, but because they have no systematic screening protocol, no clarity on the path from identification to diagnosis to treatment, and no framework for the medical billing and referral relationships that make dental sleep medicine sustainable in a general practice.
This workshop covers the full integration model for dental sleep therapy — from how to screen and identify OSA patients already in the practice to home sleep testing, oral appliance selection and titration, and how to navigate medical insurance reimbursement. Designed for any general dentist who wants to build a meaningful patient care service without major technology investment.
Participants Will Learn:
-
Identify and screen patients for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) by evaluating medical and dental histories.
-
Take proper intraoral scans including how to take a protrusive bite for the fabrication of a mandibular advancement device (MAD).
-
Choose and select specific MAD's that will set each patient up for success while mitigating and avoiding side effects.
-
Understand the importance of sleep testing and how to interpret the results of the sleep tests.
-
Navigate the complex world of medical insurance reimbursement and understand the different type of practice models that exist in dental sleep medicine.
